Going pro?

Sat Dec 22, 2007, 11:24 AM
I've had several questions from a few good friends so far. This is my reply...

-I don't plan to go pro with photography,because

1)It's hellishly time-consuming to spare some time to find inspiration and snap photos and edit them to maximum beauty, and

2)I prefer to believe that I don't have sufficient financial means to support the hobby. A quality DSLR alone with a tripod would cost at least 3k, added to special lenses for macro/distance/movement photography would cost an additional 2k at the least. I don't have that kind of money by myself. (and thank you Dad,I'm fine supporting myself this way)

-I do NOT have a fancy camera. Go ahead and google "Rollei dp8300" and the best comparison you'd ever get would be a Canon Ixus 950 IS. 8 Megapixels is cool, but if you have a camera that takes shaky pictures in broad daylight with maximum aperture/shutter speed/ISO number, then obviously you'd be dreaming of a Canon anyday.

-My pictures are NOT weird!!! And so is my love for pictures. NOT weird. Got that? :(

I'm currently so in love with Porcupine Tree. Guys, please, if you do go to their official website at [link], do vote for them to come to Malaysia. I would be forever grateful for the chance to see them live. You have NO IDEA how good they sound in live appearance, as opposed to many other bands/singers.

Cest la vie!

Who on Earth might think the love for photography is weird. And if you say you do, you are putting yourself into a life thretening situation. I do love your work, but it's really understandable why you don't go pro. I think it's the same reason for all of us. Well, also parents, that think photography is no job for you and you should go to coledge and get a profesion that you can earn enough money with... (I do not know if it is your case but it do aply to a lot of people.)

You're my change of skin,
my summer-winterfall;
I spring to follow you-
this loss is beautiful.

Peeling off my skin
leaving just my eyes behind
you see inside my head-
still know that you are mine.
